Rockville Bridge Deluge

10"x10"
oil/canvas

Ok. So I went to a favorite spot yesterday to paint the bridge during a very heavy rain. Stayed in the van to paint and rain was blowing in through the door. Felt excited to be able to paint in deplurable conditions and remain dry. I asked myself though, "What are you painting ? There's virtually no color, all cool conditions and very little definition." I answered myself "atmosphere." So here is my attempt at atmosphere....during a rainstorm....on the Susquehanna............

this is an obvious example of why being out there is worth it.

Thanks Sam. Yes, I have been accused of "being out there" before. Don't think they meant the same thing though....

Thanks Jala. I hope you both feel better soon. That's brutal.

Brian, You are an intrepid soul. And you're mining those greys. Good stuff. Do you paint in the van with the door open?

BTW, how's your Mom doing. I left you a comment a while back about your Mom, I'm not sure you got it.

Hey Bill. Thanks. Yep, I pull up to a spot and paint with either the side door or rear doors open.It just dependes which view I like. There's a lot of room and I still get the plein air feeling. Just alot less hassle!

Sorry I haven't been following the blogs too well. How's your wife? My Mom is doing ok. They keep changing chemo and she keeps dealing with the side effects. A new round of scans will be performed soon. Supposedly they're coming out with a new drug for triple negative breast cancer that has shown good results in clinical trials. She doesn't have the drive or will to totally change diet and life for that matter, allthough she has made an attempt. And who knows if it would work anyhow? I think for her the docs will have to know best
