spring hemlocks

40"x30" oil/linen

A client recently requested a vertical version of a plein air piece I did a couple of years ago. I have to say I was very happy to revisit the scene and I truly felt like I was there. Minus the black flies :) It felt good....there are no insects in this one!

Very nice! I always have an eye for a good "tree" painting and this one works nicely. I also remember the origional very fondly.
Peace,

Thanks David. Did you see the first one at a show or online?

Hey Brian,
I think the origional "spring hemlocks" was in a show at the Art Association maybe a year or two ago and then in the sales gallery briefly. Both paintings are really great. I should go online and check it out, if its still there.

Did you see the "History of American Tonalism" book published this December? It is a fabulous book you need to own with four or five hundred illustrations of great landscapes that you have never seen. Find it on amazon and buy it immediatly. Around $54. plus shipping or stop by the house and look at mine.
Peace,
DRH
