Spanglers Mill

14"x 11" oil/panel

I've rediscovered a spot where I fished for trout many years ago. It's an old mill along the Yellow Breeches Creek. The dam has been removed. I'll say that every direction I looked this afternoon could have been a painting! I tried to capture the height and uniqueness of this place. The towering forms in an almost abstract manner, all the while bathed in wonderful sunlight which is at a premium these days.

Wow, Brian, this is great. It feels like a huge painting; it has a sense of grandeur and space that makes it feel more like it's 24" or so.

Do you have to wear yellow britches to paint there?

The colors in this piece are all cool, but you feel it's a sunny day.

Jala, thanks I was going for big. My blue jeans turned brown sliding down the bank to this spot but yellow was not required!

Pam, thanks I think. I use only warm colors in sunlight and cool colors in shade while outdoors. There wasn't alot in the sun here but what was made the painting. I did use warm blues and purples on this one in spots.
