28 strokes part 1

6"x6" oil/panel

Since I have a boat load of small panels I decided to challenge myself. The challenge is create a piece with 28 brushstrokes. I'll vary brushsize however will not stray from 28 strokes. This creates an interesting dilema to say the least. The darks must go down first then carved into. A stroke consists of the brush never leaving the panel. Crazy is as crazy does..... These will appear at random

Love this and the 28 brush stroke idea!

This looks like a house in Tarzana. Where Jane lives.
Why 28?

Thanks Liz. We'll see where it goes.

Hey Sam,
Good question. I'll just say that I stood in front of the easel with canvas situated. Swayed to and fro when the idea hit to do minimum strokes. Dove in and lost consciousness. Just started figuring...counting...and applying. At 28 strokes something said stop. So I did.

Now as I research I'll say that I obviously am addressing the nuclear issue in Japan with magical neutron numbers or perhaps I just have a thing for the second "perfect number". Of course none of this was on my mind. I was in the moment and made a commitment.

Very cool what you're doing, and I especially like the self-portrait so far.

thanks Jala. I love to experiment. I think it might have cost me a show though. Jurors occasionally check sites-blogs...etc... Got shot down recently. They see a piece or two of hard to get stuff so they say no. Oh well, we move on!
